Fall seasonal leaves added to all four sides of the chest. Finish is spray lacquer. Baby name was added to top and the birth date of the child added to the inside of the lid.

Birch with Wenge and Padauk ribbon insert. This box has three inside layers with two lift-out sliding trays. This unit is one of a series of four which differ in grain pattern. These are currently only finished with a sealer coat of polyurethane and can still have decorative images / names burned into the wood. These
are a series of boxes in birch wood with leaf / plant decoration
burned into the simple, blond wood. I have used aniline
dyes AFTER an initial sealer coat of Varathane. When the wood
is sealed the dyes, in a methyl hydrate solution, can be treated
much as watercolour paints. |

These are two
more in the series of serving trays I am making. I
now have completed three; one with a Padauk side, one
with Birch and one with Walnut. The images are burned into
the wood. The two illustrated on either side are
similar except for the side woods. I have chosen to call
them my "Signature Trays" because the image attempts
to communicate both my given name and a profound teaching of the
Sacred Tree. (Note: several "blank" units are available
and can be customized)
