The balls will also roll around the inner circumferance giving a special sound that irregular shaped materials would not provide. Intended for either musical / recreational or ceremonial purposes. They have not been blessed or dedicated for ceremonial use. |

Aspen Burl bowls. Left: 11" diameter. Right: 7 " diamter with glass bowl insert. Both pieces are from the same Aspen Burl. A neighbour gave me a Birch Wood burl that he had found growing around a young birch tree. He had taken it home and later gave it to me to work with. I had that piece in my shop for about 18 months before I took it and created this piece. I did not want to really alter the unique character of the burl but I also wanted it to be opened to show the internal grains and colours. |
||
I added a small clear glass bowl to increase its funtionality. It is finished with Danish Oil and then a top coat of Krylon clear satin finish. I have returned it to the person who gave it to me. Ref: MIN_Burl |
